In this blurry and out of focus picture are two dogs and two people, the chubby dork in the red sweater (with a matching sweater wearing yorkie under arm) is me, Devon. The smile faced little shit is my brother, Ryan, and the beagle is Lightning. A few days ago Lightning passed away from completely natural causes, my father told me he just fell asleep in his arms, no pain, no crying. I am just making this post to tell everyone what a wonderful friend and companion this dog was, because I think he more than deserves it. We’ve had this dog for fifteen years, he’s been around me since I was about three and he was always my best friend. He was there to listen to you, comfort you, and just lay around in the grass. Whenever I was lonely or sad I’d sneak out to his coop at night and he’d sit next to me and watch the stars with me. This dog was loyal to no end and he’d always come back when he heard you holler. My father would take him hunting any chance he got because that dog had one heck of a nose! He could trail a rabbit for miles, and once he got the sent you were guaranteed a rabbit! It pains me to think that I’ll no longer see his stout waddling frame coming towards me in joy, or hear his gorgeous (albeit moderately annoying) howl at night. Now all I have are photographs, but I’ll never forget you Light. Rest in peace, my dear old friend.
